question about marijuana!
2004-12-12 06:30:43
Hi! Sarah.
Small cyber world isn't it. I'm also a student at Fleming doing a research assignment on marijuana. I've being using the MagPortal and Google for my searches, and I've found some interesting information. Firstly, and apparently no one has ever died of an overdose of marijuana, but 5,000 people die every year of Alcohol overdoses. Secondly, Marijuana stimulates certain brain receptors, but does not produce the toxins that kill them as alcohol does. My own personal observations, I've meet people who have mentally deteriorated from the use of marijuana. That might have something to do with the amount of young people that drop out of school, the direct result of pot use. However, I have also met successful, responsible, hard working adults that are mentally stimulated, and become more creative when under the influence. So to decriminalize marijuana or not? I personally believe that marijuana should be legalized, with the hopes that the individual would look after their best interest. I mean talk about addictions, have you noticed the line-ups at Tim Horton's, you can feel the tension as jumpy patrons await their morning fix. Good luck Chris

So, now that you have learned a fact or two, its time to ignore them and fall back on good old American faith-based knowledge, like so below.... > My own personal observations, I've meet people who have mentally > deteriorated from the use of marijuana. And of course, you were so familiar with these people that you actually knew precisely what amount of what type of drugs they used, so presicely that you can state unequivocably that it was indeed cannabis use alone - not alcohol or barbituates or over the counter drugs, or speed or anything else at all - that caused the deterioration in their mentality. Are you ever awesome eh! Have you ever considered making your amazing powers of deduction available to the world for crisis management during national disasters??? ========= >That might have something to > do with the amount of young people that drop out of school, the direct > result of pot use. And as we all know, before pot became popular, students did not drop out of school ever. You know this because you have spent years studying the direct causes of student drop out and found unmistakable correlations between pot usage and student drop-out rates. :) ========= > However, I have also met successful, responsible, > hard working adults that are mentally stimulated, and become more > creative when under the influence. Yeah, but according to you, they're all in danger of becoming pot-head drop outs at any moment - once that pot addiction kicks in - right. :) ========== > So to decriminalize marijuana or not? We all know how addictive that nasty cannabis is now don't we. DEA sez so and they never lie. Imagine a world where pot is legal and trying to get to work through all the lines of drop outs hanging outside the Hemp Cafes every morning waiting to get their fix. Absolutely awful eh. :) Educated in Bushland. It shows. :) GEM

Did you know them before they used? Do they or have they used anything other than marijuana? Could the marijuana use be a symptom rather than a cause? >That might have something to >do with the amount of young people that drop out of school, the direct >result of pot use. I've never heard of anyone dropping out of school due to pot use. Usually the pot use in dropouts is part of a much larger problem. >So to decriminalize marijuana or not?
