Do take your dog to another local vet. Do tell that vet exactly why you
are there. Take that medication/cleaning solution with you, along with print-outs of the information you found on the net. Discuss a referal to the vet school with this vet... but it would be preferable to get the ears clean first. If you do decide to go to the vet school.... Do not call the ENT MD. Do not call the dean of the vet school. His/her job is administrative, not clinical. He/she is duty bound to recommend the faculty member(s) who specializes in ENT. There is unlikely to be a vet in private practice in the region in this specialty unless there is a very large city. So you don't have a huge number of options in this specialty. It can take a while to get the deeply buried wax softened up or even liquified enough to get it out. Once the ears are clean, the vet will advise you about products and methods of keeping them clean. Every vet will have a favorite product or combination of products, based on personal experience. Jo Wolf Martinez, Georgia |
