MEMORIAL FUND FOR
DR. ALAN FRANKLIN SET UP BY TYMES TRUST

Fund for children with ME in memory of Dr Alan Franklin
set up at the season of goodwill.

The Young ME Sufferers Trust (Tymes Trust) has, in
consultation with Alan's wife Ursula, set up a memorial
fund to honour her husband, surely one of the most
compassionate paediatricians ever to walk this earth, and
the champion of children with ME everywhere.

Alan worked with the Trust for many years and with Jane
Colby herself for 12 years, giving lectures to doctors and
teachers, taking part in Teacher Training Days, visiting
families in their own homes and doing whatever he could
to educate paediatricians and others in the needs of
children and young people with ME.

Together with the Trust, Alan did much to protect families
from unjustly having their children taken from them by
mistaken Child Protection procedures. He also backed
their policy for many children with ME to be educated in
their homes to protect their health and help them achieve
despite their illness. At the final meeting of the UK Chief
Medical Officer's Working Party, he stood squarely with
Jane in demanding the restoration of this policy into the
final report from the UK Dept of Health after psychiatrists
had removed it.

Any monies raised by this fund will be used solely on
projects and work which Alan would have particularly
welcomed.
