bronchitis in the summer, yuck, help!

Hi,
I have had this nasty cough during the past two months. I shook the bronchitis part for the most part, but I still have an intermittent hacking cough. Not too bad but it's there. My doctor prescribed some generic antibiotic I never heard of, and that didn't clear it up. He then prescribed Amoxocillin. Before I take this garbage, I am wondering if there is a certain fruit, or vegetable, or herb I can eat to clear this garbage out of my system. I don't like taking any pills other than vitamins.
